Expectations for Reading, Writing, Social Studies in Room 511 4th grade: ·Select and read magazines, books, etc. that are age and level appropriate, Increase the amount of detail in drawings, Work on research projects, Use a range of strategies when drawing meaning from text, such as prediction, connections, and inference, Understand cause and effect relationship. ·Write a structured paragraph with an introductory topic sentence, three supporting details and a closing sentence that wraps up the main idea of the paragraph. ·Write a five-paragraph paper, Use proper spelling, punctuation, and sentence structure when writing. ·Have a greater understanding of the concept of fairness, Use various reference tools such as a dictionary, encyclopedia, thesaurus, and the World Wide Web to gather and present information, Use maps, globes, atlases, and thematic maps to locate cities, countries, continents, oceans, and other geographical regions, Students should be able to construct mental maps of the world, the U.S., and Illinois, In depth study of Illinois history and how Illinois' physical features and natural resources influenced settlers choices in clothing, crops, jobs, housing, and etc. ·Complete homework and class work assignments with the student's proper heading format. ·Study for tests because they are more heavily weighted in determining grade averages. ·We expect all students to Be safe, respectful, and responsible at all times.
